Discover Opportunities with 5G/6G CoE
The Anvitha Club, under the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, successfully hosted an outreach session titled “Discover Opportunities with 5G/6G CoE, IIT Kanpur” on 30th October 2025. The session aimed to create awareness among students about the latest advancements in wireless communication and the various opportunities available through IIT Kanpur’s 5G/6G Centre of Excellence. The event provided students with valuable insights into the research, innovation, and entrepreneurial ecosystem surrounding next-generation communication technologies. It encouraged participants to explore projects that integrate theoretical knowledge with practical innovation.
Session Highlights
The program commenced at 2:00 PM with a warm welcome extended to the guest speaker, Mrs. Anushree Gupta, from IIT Kanpur’s 5G/6G CoE. She began by discussing the Centre’s vision of driving India’s leadership in wireless communication technologies through research collaborations and innovation programs.
Mrs. Gupta explained how the Centre supports innovators and researchers through various funding and mentorship initiatives. She provided a detailed overview of the Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) Fellowship, which offers financial assistance of ?4 lakhs, and the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) Grant, which provides up to ?6 lakhs for prototype development. These initiatives are designed to help young innovators transition their ideas from concept to market-ready products.
She also elaborated on the comprehensive ecosystem offered by the CoE — including access to high-end research labs, technical mentorship, workshops, legal and administrative assistance, and prototype-to-product support. The session emphasized how such platforms help bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application.
Faculty and Student Engagement
The interactive Q&A session saw enthusiastic participation from students, who inquired about eligibility criteria, project proposal guidelines, and potential collaboration avenues with IIT Kanpur. Mrs. Gupta addressed their queries in detail and encouraged students to pursue innovation-driven research in the field of wireless communication. Faculty members from the ECE department appreciated the informative nature of the session. They commended Mrs. Gupta for her clear and inspiring presentation, and they motivated students to utilize such opportunities to enhance their research potential and technical expertise. The discussion also highlighted the importance of aligning academic research with industry requirements to foster meaningful innovations.
Conclusion The outreach session organized by the Anvitha Club proved to be both insightful and inspiring. It expanded the participants’ understanding of emerging technologies and provided a roadmap for students aspiring to contribute to the 5G and 6G research ecosystem.
By connecting students directly with an expert from IIT Kanpur, the session strengthened academic–industry collaboration and ignited a spirit of curiosity and innovation among budding engineers.
The event concluded on a positive note with a vote of thanks to the speaker and organizing team for their efforts in making the session a success. Overall, the outreach session marked a significant step toward cultivating a culture of innovation and research excellence within the institute.
